Alla McGeary, shown here with her own Miss Kira, is a well known and well respected rescuer of Doberman Pinschers. For the last 4 ½ years she has volunteered with the Doberman Assistance, Rescue and Education organization (DAR&E) in the MD/VA/DC area. Recently, “Stella” a Doberman with a deformed foot was removed from a DAR&E foster home by DAR&E. After 10 months DAR&E had judged the foster home to be unsuitable for Stella. Stella was then placed as a foster with Alla. Several weeks later DAR&E decided to adopt Stella to that previous foster home from which she had been removed. Alla refused to agree with the adoption based on her concern for Stella and her fear that Stella would be subjected to the same conditions that were the reasons for her original removal.

On March 18, 2007 Athy Conigliaro, President of DAR&E, swore out a felony arrest warrant against Alla for “stealing” Stella. On March 23, 2007, Alla turned herself into the authorities where she was formally arrested, handcuffed, finger printed, and had her mug shot taken -- FOR RESCUING STELLA.

In order to defend herself against the felony charges, Alla has had to retain an attorney and is now facing legal expenses that are beyond her means -- FOR RESCUING STELLA.

Alla’s concern has always been and STILL IS for the welfare of the Dobes – even at the expense of her own welfare. Having rescued Stella from a Rescue group Alla now needs your help -- FOR RESCUING STELLA.

We are asking for your help so that Alla does not suffer the loss of her freedom, financial resources and her dignity – FOR RESCUING STELLA!!

The only thing they have not touched is her integrity, her good name AND her willingness to stake everything -- FOR RESCUING STELLA!!

Though some have questioned whether the photos above are really Stella, here is another in the same series of pictures taken on the same day which show Stella's distinctive left arm malformation.

April 2, 2008:

And the Theater of the Absurd continues... For the Commonwealth of Virginia and Athy ConigLIARo's pleasure and at the taxpayer's expense - not to mention the expense of the persecution of a woman who would save a dog, a Dobe, dear STELLA!!

On April 2, 2008 a Pre-Trial Hearing was held where one charge was dropped, that of § 18.2-97. Larceny of certain animals and poultry, and the 2nd charge, § 18.2-117. Failure of bailee to return animal, aircraft, vehicle or boat was kept. That's right, an ANIMAL, i.e. PROPERTY! But wait, whose property??

Trial (by jury, hopefully by Alla's peers ( if there are any peers for a person who would go to jail to protect an animal) in the commonwealth (small 'c' intended) where once human beings were considered "property," is set for September 11, 2008. Stay tuned for more absurdity - Mr. Prosecutor, you make a mockery of your profession and the law of the Commonwealth - SHAME ON YOU!! What price glory??

January 10, 2008:

On the 10th of January, after much background posturing where impossible "deals" were concocted (by whom or with whose help one might ask...), that neither Alla, nor the prosecutor himself could keep -- the Grand Jury met and at the request of Mr. Williamson, Alla was indicted on not one BUT two FELONY charges! Read the felony charges here. So much for starting the year off right! The formal arraignment was on the morning of January 15th. At that time Alla was formally arrested (again...) and paraded before a judge who read the charges against her. The judge set the date for the pre-trial hearing for April 2, 2008. REMEMBER!!! - Alla continues to be deprived of her private property following the RAID on her home on August 29, 2007!! All this machination, all this expense to the taxpayer over a stray dog - the same class of dog that has NO "LEGAL" VALUE and which dogs are destroyed by the millions every year! The crime here is not the trumped up charges being made but the injustice to someone who would put there personal life and property at risk - FOR RESCUING STELLA!! Think about that in the Gulag tonight!!

December 6 , 2007:

On this day, prosecutor Glenn Williamson was to seek an indictment from the Grand Jury against Alla. At the eleventh hour, and after much anguish on Alla's part and everyone else following this travesty, Mr. Williamson decided that he would not present his case to the Grand Jury this month. Merry Christmas to you too! Please read the details of the December 13, 2007 Update here. Keep Alla in your thoughts and lets hope for the best possible outcome in the new year!!

November 22, 2007:

On October 10th there was a meeting between Alla, her Attorney, the prosecutor Glenn Williamson, Athy Conigliaro and the DAR&E BoD. The prosecutor proposed that all parties agree to use an arbitrator, and that the decision of the arbitrator would be final as to the disposition of Stella.

The end result was that Alla's attorney notified the prosecutor, Glenn Williamson, that Alla could not agree to the arbitration proposal because she does NOT know where Stella is located. Alla could not ETHICALLY agree to Mr. Williamson’s proposal which would have required her to lie.

August 29, 2007:

A day that SHOULD live in infamy! Under the legal authority of executing a search warrant on Alla's home, there occurred a RAID on her property - her home, property and car were searched and photographed. They confiscated her computers, camera, disks, paper files and other items of personal property (including a business computer which incidentally now leaves her without means to earn a living). This "search party" removed her property without giving her a receipt or inventory of those items they removed!! WHAT on earth are we talking about - an international drug smuggling ring? Or the rescue of a dog, yes a dog, that was in imminent danger of being returned to a person, who by her own admission, was UNABLE or UNWILLING to care for this dog! Is the Commonwealth of Virginia OUT OF ITS MIND?? Taxpayers and Dog lovers should be up in arms!! Read the actual Search Warrant Here.

Alla's last name is NOT V-I-C-K!! It is McGeary - she did not torture or maim or kill this dog!!

She rescued her from the neglect she had received at the hands of an unfit foster home as affirmed by the DPCA Rescue Committee.
